Hello all,
I was diagnosed with pcos a little over 2 yrs ago, although i did have some idea that i may suffer with this for maybe 7 years!
My periods have never been regular and uptil today this is my first period in 4-5 years (ive lost track now!!!)
Although me and my partner knew that i had very little chance to concieve, we still have been trying for 2 years, and have so far lost 3 an a half stone to help regulate things a little more.
About 3 weeks ago my breasts and nipples started to become very sore, and today i have started my period. All my periods before i have never had any symptoms other than cramps.
Im just wondering if theres any chance i could be pregnant, or this is just the start of my cycle.
Thank you
x

Hi Mmolloy,
If you're having full red blood would doubt you are PG, if spotting it's a possibility....
As you had sore BB's three weeks ago, I suspect that that's when you ovulated, I get sore nipples at OV time, it's quite a common thing.
Fab news if you're having a natural cycle tho - hopefully your body is kicking into gear x _________________ MAR 09 - AUG 09 6 cycles Clomid 50mg - BFN

Some people can have a period and be pregnant, but I think its pretty rare (my friend didnt realise she was pregnant until she was 7 months as she had periods regularly!!)
You need to have 3-4 periods a year to keep your uterus healthy so you must see the GP if it doesnt happen. Remember to have sex from day 10 onwards (every other day is good, not more than that otherwise the sperm isnt mature enough).
Have you had your OH checked out as well?
You need to be asked to be referred to fertility as pcos is a known fertility issue so 2 years of trying is long enough.
And well done for losing the weight, Im sure that is what started your period off (you dont need a period to ovulate tho btw) so well done you.
let us know how it goes but ask to be referred. |

Thanks for your replys.
I had my first appointment with gyne almost 2 years ago, waited soooo long for my follow up appointment i ended up making my GP re-refer me!so i finally get to see someone on the 10th August!
Hopefully he will be able to see if the cysts are starting to disapear/improve,(fingers crossed)
Not sure if they do naturally go with weight loss or what so will let you all know in a few weeks time!

Cysts come and go as they are purely another symptom of pcos and not the cause (misleading name), once you have pco you have it though, weightloss can reduce the symptoms but you will always have it.
Let us know how the appointment goes and make sure they move you onto the next stage and dont fob you off to try for any longer. |

Sorry for the essay...
Well i was at the hospital today ... finally!!!
He perscribed me Clomid (didnt need to ask him ) but he didnt give me any other information just said take it for 6 months.
Now ive been reading on the net that im to take it on certain days of my cycle, of which i have no idea about :s as 10days ago was my first AF visit in over 4 years!
Any advice?
I feel a bit daft for not knowing the simplest of things relating to my body, but ive never had regualr periods and never questioned it, or felt like i needed the info!
I did start a chart to help me along! but i guess i wont be able to calculate anything concrete till atleast my next AF visit.... which i hope is NOT another 4yrs away!!!
Dpes anyone know if i can just go ahead and start taking Clomid? |

You usually have to take it from day 2-6, if you have only just had a period then you may need to go to the GP to get provera to start another period or perhaps the next one will be au natural as well. Day 1 is the first day of your period.
It should say it on the label on the box for clomid as some say take it on days 3-7 so it does vary a bit. |
