PCOS was changed to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) on 12 May 2026 after decades of work by patients and professionals. There is now a three year transition period and during this time our website, social media and assets will utilise both names as part of the transition process.

PMOS (formerly PCOS) is often only associated with fertility and weight, but it's a serious endocrine condition that affects over 4 million in the UK. Take a look at this helpful video for an introduction into PMOS.
Symptoms include irregular periods, excess hair, acne, alopecia, weight management difficulties, depression and anxiety. PMOS (formerly PCOS) also carries increased risks during pregnancy, and of developing type 2 diabetes, sleep aponea, fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease and endometrial cancer.
