RECRUITING PCOS PARTICIPANTS TO YOUR RESEARCH

When it's time to recruit participants for your study, Verity is here to support you. We'll reach out to our extensive PCOS community through social media and email, directing interested individuals to your team.

OUR PROCESS
  1. Ethics Approval: If applicable, we'll request to review your ethics approval to ensure compliance and ethical standards.
  2. Outreach: Utilising our signifcant social media presence and email network, we'll connect with our PCOS patients to spread the word about your study.
  3. Support: As a volunteer-led charity reliant on donations, we appreciate your consideration of our time in your recruitment efforts. If our support wasn't included in your grant, we kindly ask for a donation to help enable us to continue our work (we would suggest a minimum donation of £40 for students and £200 for commissioned research). Our support is not contingent on a donation, but it is incredibly appreciated.

HOW TO RECRUIT PATIENTS

Verity has a volunteer research board that meets to review research requests every two months.  To have Verity consider your study, you will need to follow the below steps outlined thoroughly:
  • Download and complete this form
  • Write communication materials that can be shared by Verity
  • Email us your completed form, ethics approval, University logo & comms documents
Please ensure that you have proofread your form and related comms materials thoroughly before sending. We require all studies to include signposting/helplines for participants. Any topic, whether we perceive it to be or not, can be distressing to others, so it is important to include signposting for participants. This can include their GP, NHS, Verity, Mind or other relevant charities.

We cannot provide any guarantee that we will post your research and cannot provide you with assurance for your ethics application. However, we will review all the research requests that come in within the allotted review dates. Please ensure you have included everything we need to review your research study. If it does not include everything we have requested, it wll be rek

We thoroughly review research studies before posting so we can ensure that they align with Verity and we are happy with the content. If we approve your study, we will email you with confirmation and we will share it with our community. On some occasions, we may return to you with queries, clarification or to amend things. If this occurs, we will post once these have been resolved.

UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES
Where there is significant requirement to reach under-served communities, we partner with specialist women's health charities that directly serve them.  This does require financial support, so please do factor this into your costings.

Verity is a very small charity, almost entirely reliant on donations and fundraising to continue our work. In addition to our (volunteered) time, costs are incurred in supporting research requests like yours – such as web hosting, email distribution, social media creation and outreach.  We would appreciate any donation you are able to make to help towards this.  We recommend a minimum donation of £200 for grant-led research, and £40 for student research.  Whilst our support is not contingent on a donation, it is very appreciated.
