WHY FUNDRAISE FOR VERITY?
We could not provide our vital services without the people who support us.
Verity asks you to get involved in your local areas, sign up for an organised event or why not take the plunge and organise your own event. You will make a real difference to women with PCOS whilst having fun. Your fundraising makes a real difference to the services and support that the charity can offer women with PCOS, their family and friends. You may not know that Verity is entirely self funded.
Verity has no financial support from the government. Therefore we rely entirely on donations, grants and fundraising to run a national charity.
If Verity had more funds these are some of the things that we can do to make an even bigger difference:
So why fundraise?? We hope reading the following testimonials will help inspire you to fund raise for Verity.
Testimonials
“When I found out I had PCOS, it came as a bit of a shock, especially as I’d never even heard of it before! Verity has provided me with a network of support via the local groups, online forum, regular conferences and literature. Fundraising on behalf of Verity is my way of saying thanks for everything they do for us and to help more ladies get the support that I’ve been lucky enough to have. Getting the support of the people around me also helps raise awareness and shows how much I value Verity.”
Samara, Bristol
"Fundraising for Verity is a great way to try and get t, lose a bit of weight (hopefully) but also to raise the pro le of Verity because when I was diagnosed in approx 1990 there was no information on the condition until I thankfully found Verity. It was a godsend to me then and is to so many ladies now so Verity needs all the support it can get and is a pleasure to help them as they have helped me so much."
Holly, West Sussex
"At 17 I was told I could not have children, at 20 I was then told I had turned it all around! Hearing something at that age can make you feel like your hopes and dreams for the future have been destroyed. I used to get very frustrated about hirsutism. No woman wants to feel unattractive and the male patterns of hair growth can leave you feeling low. From waxing, laser and bleach creams, these are all a temporary x and you need to be committed to managing the symptoms.
Friends and family were supportive and I used sources such as newspaper articles, Verity website and [various] books. These resources show that you can be in control of PCOS, it just depends how much you want to feel better."
Lisa-Marie, Hertfordshire

If Verity had more funds these are some of the things that we can do to make an even bigger difference:
- Funding research into the causes and treatment of PCOS
- Providing a diverse and enhanced range of services to our members
- Recruit and pay staff to run the charity rather than the charity running solely on volunteer support
- Have a fundraising campaign to use all forms of media to raise the public profile and knowledge about PCOS to a wider audience
- Hold more support group meetings and conferences
- Offer new support services and materials to local support groups
